{"id":99,"date":"2011-11-15T13:33:06","date_gmt":"2011-11-15T13:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lamarhuntjrcounseling.com\/blog\/?p=99"},"modified":"2012-09-06T17:10:30","modified_gmt":"2012-09-06T17:10:30","slug":"avoidant-people-part-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lamarhuntjrcounseling.com\/blog\/2011\/11\/15\/avoidant-people-part-two\/","title":{"rendered":"Avoidant People &#8211; Part Two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When avoidant people are asked to describe their parents, they use generalities like &#8220;wonderful, great, warm, loving, and kind.&#8221; However when asked to provide specific examples of when their parents behaved this way, they\u00a0are unable to provide specific examples.\u00a0They want to believe this really happened but have no specific experience to back it up. Insensitive parenting includes &#8220;dismissive&#8221; parenting where a parent dismisses a child&#8217;s emotions, especially the negative ones. &#8220;Rejecting&#8221; parenting\u00a0involves a parent who is emotionally disengaged from the child even from early on as an infant. &#8220;Intrusive&#8221; parenting is too much of a good thing and a failure on the part of the\u00a0parent to be attuned to the child in a way that honors their freedom to choose. It is a failure to read subtle cues.
