The Light

“Lead, Kindly Light, amid the encircling gloom

Lead Thou me on!

The night is dark, and I am far from home –

Lead Thou me on!

Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see

The distant scene-one step enough for me.”

Blessed John Henry Newman

How Do You Live Your Life?

“What is it you desire? What kind of method or procedure do you paint for yourself in this life? What do you think serving God involves other than avoiding evil, keeping His commandments, and being occupied with things of God as best we can?” St. John of the Cross  If you are in need of counseling or know someone who is, please contact Lamar Hunt Jr. or see his website at http://lamarhuntjrcounseling.com/.

Share In Other’s Sorrows

We should not only cope with our own sorrows and learn from them, but we should also share in other people’s sorrow and suffering, even if they have brought it on themselves. A devout person can oftentimes be less sorrowful and consequently less compassionate than the poor sinners of the world. In any society, the difference between the pious and the saintly is often the degree of compassion and acceptance of another’s pain through sorrow that has strangely linked the saintly to the sinful.  If you are in need of counseling or know someone who is, please contact Lamar Hunt Jr. or see his website athttp://lamarhuntjrcounseling.com/.

How Do You Deal With The Normal Sadness Of Life?

Those who seek an escape from the normal sadness of life through prayer and religious practice often use the defense mechanisms of denial and repression to create a false sense of tranquility. This only stores away the tears and anger for another day. Constant denial of the realities of the human situation can lead eventually to a profound sadness and depression, which often require therapeutic intervention and sometimes medication. Know Your Fears

Psychologists from St. Augustine to Freud have seen fear as a universal, underlying experience of life. Fears usually begin in childhood and should be clearly recognized by every mature adult. Here is a list of our most common fears which tend to be pervasive and last throughout life.

*Fear of being hurt

*Fear of illness-sometimes called hypochondria

*Fear of rejection by others

*Fear of embarrassment

*Fear of being trapped in some situation

*Fear of being abandoned or left alone

*Fear of being without enough funds

*Fear of being controlled by some passion or compulsion

*Fear of death

Make a list of your most common fears which may include some of the above and some unique to you. Fear can motivate us to do good or to do bad. Fear can make us wisely cautious and warn us of real danger. However fear can also paralyze us and cause us to hold back, or never begin what we should have started. “Know your fears!”  If you are in need of counseling or know someone who is, please contact Lamar Hunt Jr. or see his website at http://lamarhuntjrcounseling.com/

Wisdom from the Bible

Lamar Hunt, Jr. loves to read the Bible.  He also loves to use his favorite quotes in not only understanding how to help individuals in counseling but to pass on to his counseling clients.  Here’s one of his favorites:  “By Wisdom is a house built, by understanding is it made firm; And by knowledge are its rooms filled with every precious and pleasing possession. A wise man is more powerful than a strong man, and a man of knowledge than a man of might; For it is by wise guidance that you wage war, and the victory is due to a wealth of counselors.”  Proverbs 24:3-6.  If you are in need of counseling, please contact Lamar Hunt Jr. or see his website at http://lamarhuntjrcounseling.com/

Marriage Fights

Lamar Hunt, Jr. understands conflict in marriages and how to deal with it.  “It is not what couples fight about or even the fact that they do fight that threatens a marriage…actually what couples argue about at the beginning of marriage they usually argue about for the rest of it.” Mr. Hunt counsels couples to understand the techniques in resolving conflicts.  “The key to the success and longevity of marriage is not if but how couples fight.  Remaining emotionally connected through and after a “fight” is the crucial factor.”  The important thing to remember is to set peaceful ground rules that each spouse will not only agree with but comply with during all “fights.”  If you are in need of marital counseling, please contact Lamar Hunt Jr. or see his website at http://lamarhuntjrcounseling.com/
